I've played at coffeehouses, lounges, community dinners, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas banquets, outreach events, outdoor concerts, birthday parties, hot dog lunches... You name it, I've probably played it. I'm willing to play just about any event, and I am currently available for bookings in Canada and the U.S.

Money isn't my primary concern, but I would like to continue making music, and money is an essential tool for the continued support and growth of my art. My only requirements are that I have 1) the chance to sell my CDs & merchandise, and 2) my travel expenses covered. This will help me to gain money from a show or at the very least break even.

I am willing to negotiate on all levels of performance including the music being played, and payment. Usually I don't play many cover tunes, however, and I like to limit the number of covers I play. Feel free to email me any ideas you might have and I'd be happy to accommodate.
My Fees
My standard fees are as follows (I am a member of the Calgary Musicians Association and these are considered standard union fees according to the Tariff of Minimum Fees):

Casual Engagements (within Calgary City Limits)
(Background music, cafés, barbeques, patio parties, banquets, etc.)
Solo Concert - $159.00
With Accompaniment - Above fee plus $106.00 for each backup musician

Out-of-Town Engagements
Solo Concert - $190.80 (Up to 65km), $222.60 (66 to 160km), $254.40 (Over 160km)
With Accompaniment - Above fee plus $127.20 (Up to 65km), $148.40 (66 to 160km), $169.60 (Over 160km) for each backup musician

Other fees may apply according to the Tariff of Minimum Fees, but I like to keep things simple so they will not be charged for any engagement at this time.

Church Concerts
If you're a struggling church and are unable to pay, I am willing to negotiate these fees. I'd also be happy to play on a free-will donation basis. Of course, it would be most appreciated if the requirements I listed earlier (travel expenses covered, and the opportunity to sell CDs & merchandise) could be met.

Church Services, Charities, and Benefit Concerts
No fees apply, but it would be most appreciated if my two requests noted above (travel expenses covered if not within city limits, and the opportunity to sell CDs & merchandise) could be fulfilled.

What can I expect from a David Andrew Wiebe concert?
I usually play 2 hour concerts with a break in the middle. I have written a great deal of new material since the release of Shipwrecked... My Sentiments, and many of these new songs are already a part of my show. I like to give my vocals a rest when I can, so I also play instrumental pieces (usually on classical guitar, though I also plan on including keyboard pieces in the future).

I like to share the personal stories behind many of my songs, and actively connect with the audience. God is very important to me, and there are usually spiritual and personal implications for what I talk about. I do not preach, however.

My live performances are constantly in a state of flux since I'm always trying to make changes and improvements to my music. As such, I don't always play every song off of Shipwrecked... If there's a particular song that you would like to hear, please let me know.

I have played many solo shows in the past, and one of the things people often enjoy is my guitar playing. Is a solo concert right for you? Ask yourself this: do you want me to play for 150 people or less, or is your event much larger in size? Big venues are usually better suited to a 3-piece band (or larger) so the music carries and the audience has more layers to listen to. Are you looking to do an intimate concert for a smaller audience? In that case, a solo concert might be what you're looking for. Let me offer another possibility: I have often played shows with one backup musician either playing bass or percussion. A duo can work in many situations because of the added accompaniment. In fact, I have often played small coffeehouses as a duo.

Just so you know, concerts can take many other formats as well (i.e. instrumental pieces only, vocal pieces only, a full band concert with acoustic pieces in the middle, etc.)

Whatever your choice, you can email me with any questions you might have.
